Now I have all my templates and I've decided what I'm going to take to the show and sale.
I hope you enjoy my two latest creations:
The soaps are butterfly shaped :)
When I tell people I make miniatures they usually say "You must have so much patience!" or "I could never do that." They used to say pretty much the exact same thing when I worked with preschoolers!
I am a patient person, but that does not mean I don't have occasional hissy fits, this afternoon it was related to making miniature bows. But I'm getting better!
Hugs to all,
Ruth
Gorgeous work honey! You outdid yourself here they are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks sweepea!
DeleteThat means a lot coming from you (you're so talented, even if you doubt yourself sometimes)

Thanks Wyrna! You have always been one of my biggest cheerleader. You helped give me the confidence to sell my work.

Hi Ruth! Your posting was very funny! I nearly Always hear people talk about 'patience' when it comes to miniatures! I always respond that YOU will find the patience for whatever you really want to do, Whatever that might be. Your little toiletry baskets are delightful and include such a lovely arrangement of items! Well done! You must have a lot of Patience to have made each tiny thing with so much great detail!( smiles!)
ReplyDeleteHere's to great success at your forth coming show!

It's like my mother-in-law has said about knitting. She's an amazing knitter, but she will yell and stomp around a bit trying to figure out a difficult pattern. My Father in law will say "Isn't this supposed to be enjoyable for you?" :P I think Miniatures are so totally absorbing, it takes a long time to master certain techniques, but it you take to it you'll be happy despite any miniature bow induced hissy fit :)

They are both delightful, Ruth! I had to laugh about your comments. I get the same comments about teaching tweenies, and working on miniatures. When I was learning to make miniature food, the British instructions warned me that one part was kind of 'fidgety.' What a great word for the tiny frustrating parts... like making tiny bows.
ReplyDeleteWhen people used to say that to me about working with preschoolers, I used to say, "I could never do what you do!" (Sit at a desk all day.)
DeleteI temped as a secretary for a couple months after graduation and hated it!
Where is your blog Chris?
I can't find a link to it.

Anthea
Thanks Anthea! I'm planning to put most of the money I earn towards debt repayment, but that will be hard :P So many miniature things to love. I started thinking yesterday that I would love to do a house someday.
DeleteMaybe a halfscale one since they take up less space and are cheaper.
Hugs,
Ruth
Beautiful work, Ruth! Have a blast at the show! xo Jennifer

ReplyDeleteThanks Audra! I'm working on blue one right now and I couldn't get to sleep last night, I kept ruminating over what to put in the basket. I decided on miniature slippers :)
