I think I will actually start responding to comments on my blog!

Up until now I have always responded to comments by emailing my blogging friends directly in response to the lovely comments I receive. I have liked doing it this way because often times these exchanges become a bit more personal and have led to some great friendships. But I do see the benefits of responding on my blog. Then everyone can read the comments! So from now on when you leave a comment, make sure to click on the link that says subscribe to comments by email, or check back for my reply.
And if I have a more personal reply for you, I'll still be sending you a personal email!

Hugs to all my blogging friends!

Ruth

  2. I totally get that. Also it takes oodles of time to email. I usually just visit that person's blog and respond that way. I hear from people who have 1000s of followers that it gets harder and harder to handle comments. A nice problem to have right!

  3. Hello Ruth! You know when I began blogging just after Christmas 2012, one of the things that I had decided was important to me was to respond to comments only because I like to read what others have to say and I found that the comments were often more informative than some of the blogs depending on who was doing the writing. It is not for everybody and initally it was a lot easier for me because I was basically just talking to myself and Janine and Fatima. Now it takes a lot longer to write each comment but I wouldn't change it. It encourages people to open up and interact with me and I with them. I also think that others feel heard when the post that they are commenting on is getting a direct response.
Everything has its plusses and minuses and this is no different. You seem like an exceptionally intelligent lady so I am sure that you have made this decision based on some home research and observation, good on you!

  4. Oh you're such a sweetheart Ruth, thanks so much for the lovely comment today ~ I needed it♥ I hear you on the "response to comments" think ~ I've never quite known how to handle those myself and now I find out that the responses aren't even seen by those who comments so they never know. Still we wish to respond so I think it's something we do more from our hearts than anything else. *smile*
    Hugs♥

    1. You are such a sweetheart too Sharon. Bringing some beauty into the world is no small thing! Don't let this set back (however frustrating) get you down). Chin up!

    2. Hi Elizabeth, my parents were here over the weekend and I brought the subject up with my Mum. She made the same comment about how the world is a more dangerous place in 2013 and I said I didn't agree. I read a magazine article citing a study which argued conditions are safer. Children are educated about the dangers, those who commit crimes against children are caught more easily and then they are in a database for life. I think there is a perception that the world is more dangerous because before it wasn't talked about, and now it's all over the media, which breeds fear. It's an interesting debate!
